We had our rehearsal dinner at Oliver's! It was conveniently located down the street from our wedding ceremony venue. They were more than happy to accommodate our group of 27 and created a custom menu in advance for us. Everyone was raving about the food, the service and the ambiance. A total win!

Second time here. The chicken Marsala is so good you want to cry. It's served with mashed potatoes and garlicky spinach. The mushroom gravy is divine. I want to go back and try the other items on the menu.

Yuck. There was a hair in the jalapeño bites, and they left all the seeds in so that they were unbearably spicy. The menus were made from cheap office file folders and the wine glasses were all dirty. I thought I'd give it a try, but I can't recommend it. Not clean and very tacky.

Totes adorbs! We were looking for somewhere in Lake O to enjoy some happy hour time, and after a second creepy drive-by of Pepper's we saw Oliver's and decided to give it a shot. We ordered the assortment plate to share, although we didn't share the eggs or japs. First off, the wasabi deviled eggs were the tits! Why don't all deviled eggs have wasabi in them? I was kind of weary of dates, but they were delicious! My bf gobbled up all the bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers and we shared the steak bites. We will be back for happy hour next time!

Well if you are expecting snooty, pricey and food that makes you starve after you've paid through the nose, this is not the place. Oliver's was recommended by a friend and I was dubious given the star rating here on Yelp, which I love to Yelp by the way, but it did make me nervous to try this place. I don't know if the filter is skewing the reviews for this place or not, but I think this place is not getting the rating it deserves. How nice to go to a place in Lake Oswego, feel warmly welcomed by the owner who is more than happy to let you choose where you want to sit, and then be absolutely surprised by the down home comforting and affordable fare. I had a delicious garden salad, grilled cheese (with bacon) sandwich and a beer. I am a HUGE rib eye steak fan and didnt try this go around because I wanted to make sure that the food was prepared reasonably well before I committed to the steak. Without a doubt, I will go back and try the rib eye next time. I just cannot believe this place doesn't rank higher!

I gave it three stars, my wife gave it 2. I thought the appetizer sampler was good. I liked the steak bites. She liked the bacon wrapped date. The other stuff was just ok. The service was decent. There were a few flies flying around in the small space... a little annoying. The bathroom was in the back of the building like an old gas station, have to walk outside. MInor inconvenience.

I do feel a bit guilty giving a one star review, but our dinner was so un-impressive I want to put it out there. We went with a living social voucher and had hopes to find a good local option. The service was in disarray - which we can overlook, but coupled with strictly ordinary food we both left saying what a mistake. We had the beet salad, the enchiladas and the pork and sorry to report, none of it was better than just OK. Since I do read the reviews when choosing a new dining option I think those of you reading this will at least get another perspective. I hope they can pull it together because they seem like nice people.

I have been to Oliver's numerous times and I am finally remembering to write a review. I have NEVER had a poor experience at Oliver's. the service is ALWAYS top notch, the food is ALWAYS incredible and delicious, not to mention the prices are just right!! I've had their enchiladas, meatloaf, Mac and Cheese, the chicken pot pie (my favorite so far and they have a mini version available if you just ask for it), the chicken Marsala (on special one evening), the beet salad, the O Salad and another salad comparable to a classic Caesar. Oliver's has quickly become a weekly social destination where my friends and I gather over a fun filled dinner! Thanks to the wonderful, down to earth gang who make you feel a part of their family and take the time to get to REALLY know you because they REALLY care. It's that old fashioned service you'll find at Oliver's and they serve it up with pride, a smile and that yummy taste of comfort you remember from the good ole days!

I am really surprised by the previous reviews. I was able to purchase a voucher to Oliver's on Sharing Spree (great website, btw)...and I was pleasantly surprised! The appetizers were some of the best I've had. Bacon wrapped jalepeno poppers...wasabi deviled eggs?! The table next to us was so envious when they saw our food delivered that they ordered the exact same thing. The prices are very reasonable for the portions given as well. The homeade pot pie (delicious, fresh) was big enough to feed an entire family. I'll definitely be back!

Pleasantly surprised! I went to this restaurant on Sunday with a little trepidation after having read some of the other reviews. My experience was excellent, so I can only surmise that the owner's took heed of the comments and have made a concerted effort to raise the bar. The food was fantastic and I was very pleased with the wine choices! There were several items on the menu that sounded delicious and narrowing it down to one was difficult, so I decided I would just have to go back again to try the other dishes. The happy hour menu is large with several yummy choices to select from. Only area for improvement is they could add more greenery to the outdoor patio. I love the tiki torches though! The interior is very cool and I'm impressed with what they did to an old Tastee Freeze restaurant!

I have gone to Oliver's several times now, both in the winter and summer. Each time I have gone the atmosphere has been great and the food even better. I highly recommend it! The owner also has great taste in wines. I can't think of a time where I haven't throrughly enjoyed the wine recommended to me.

The food was decent, but it's hard to mess up anything served/wrapped in bacon or smothered in cheese. My issue here is with the service at a snail's pace. On our second visit here, the server was sweet and cheerful, but quite slow. We waited and waited and waited for our (simple) breakfast order. At one point, the server finally put ketchup and hot sauce on our table. "Yes!" we thought. "This is a GOOD SIGN! Food is on its way." Nope. About five minutes later the server grabbed the ketchup and hot sauce from our table and gave it to another table. We asked ourselves: Is there only one bottle of each??? It took us another 15 minutes to get two of our three orders. The poached eggs were hard-boiled (after all that time waiting???). Finally, our son's pancakes came out. They were good! But rather cold. We will give Oliver's another shot, cuz the food isn't bad and they are close to home, and the server was very kind, but if it's this slow again, we won't return.

We had hoped that this would be a success but was terribly disappointed. The food was bland and tasted like it came out of a can. To boot, while we were not in a hurry, there were only a few other customers there and the service was surprisingly and unexplainably slow.

I went to Oliver's because of a GroupOn and I was very surprised by the food. I had driving by the place a few times and the outside of the building is not impressive and I was a little nervous about trying the place out. The food is wonderful! I had the beet and gorganzola salad and it is delicious, and the pork loin for dinner, also amazing. The place is small and cozy and "quaint" and the service a little slow because the owner was the only one serving the entire place. I will definitely be back to try some of the other items, and especially for that beet salad! I would highly recommend this place. Good prices and the food is great!

Yet again Olivers just didn't deliver with the service or atmosphere, unfortunately this was our 2nd visit so we won't try again. our first visit found the food to be average so we thought we'd try them one more time. this time the service was so slow we left before ordering. the radio blaring ads in the background didn't help either. the owner said to sit anywhere and proceeded to keep cleaning the glassware. customer service and friendliness didn't exist, in fact, it was just a little weird. too many other restaurants nearby that are warmer and friendlier. we won't be back, two chances were more than enough.

I waited a long time for this restaurant to open, as we used to have a business in the neighborhood, and it was definitely worth the wait. After having the grilled cheese sandwich, I can't have it anywhere else! It's the best - the mac and cheese and beet salad is also to die for. I hope Lake Oswegians keep this one around - the owner is my kind of woman entrepreneur.

This was one of our worst restaurant experiences EVER! No greeting, we had to hunt to make eye contact with someone in the restaurant. After we were told to sit anywhere, 10+ minutes went by before anyone came to the table. We were never offered drinks, and the waitstaff never smiled and argued with us about our order. We should have walked out at that point, but I had a groupon and my wife and I decided to stick it out. They brought us salads with half the ingredients on the menus missing, and we had to ask for everything to be added back in. What was interesting was that other known customers had walked in after us, were served before us, and received much better service, We will NEVER go to Oliver's again. Looking forward to another owner, another restaurant and something local were proud to support. The Pine Shed BBQ just around the corner is great!

Nice small business owner who really tries. Great food and a nice quiet experience. We go there often- frequent the small guy- she needs the business and she is one of the restaurant's that really try. I want to see her make it- so try her out- her food is terrific- we have never been disappointed.

We've been to this restaurant twice, once for dinner a couple weeks ago, and once for brunch this past week-end. It's a fabulous addition to our area. We love the simple, yet creative menu. The food is excellent, the portions great, the wine wonderful, and the help is knowledgeable and timely with service. The ambience is welcoming and we will definitely go back! I read about Mother's Day from one of the reviewers, and understand that they planned for about 50 people, and got over 100.

Got introduced to this neighborhood restaurant last weekend. Really enjoyed the food and caring staff. Portions were great, price was decent, service was good given the small staff. The outside does not give a clue to the inside atmosphere. Don't judge this book by it's cover. Next time I get to Lake Oswego I plan to go back and think I will have the chicken pot pie and I don't even like chicken pot pie but it looked and tasted soooo good when someone else at my table had it.

Came here for the first time on a Saturday at 5pm. We were the only ones here but heard it's much busier later during live music. Great food, had chicken marsala and wild salmon. Meat was cooked perfectly, sauces had amazing flavor. Will come back for sure.

I was really impressed with this restaurant and hope they are around awhile. My six year old and I waited for some time for the restaurant to open up and we finally just got the chance to go. At first glance I was uncertain about the atmosphere as it seemed a bit more upscale then we were dressed for (we were simply slumming from a day of running around and casual). When we walked in, however, no one payed much attention to our wardrobe and they were warm and welcoming. I could see most of the diners were relaxed in jeans and casual clothes, so this was reassuring. In picking up a menu I was equally surprised with the prices. I assumed the dishes would be between $15-$20, but there were more items priced at $8, $9, $10 and $12 then I anticipated, which lead me to unfortunately order more food than I could eat. I ordered the beet salad - I'm still craving it. The beets were a bit big so I cut them to smaller pieces but the combined flavors of gorgonzola, arugala and candied walnuts were amazing. I ordered the enchiladas as well, but was too full from the salad to eat it that night. I nibbled a bit on the rice and a small bite of the enchilada and it was good. It made for a good breakfast the next morning. My daughter chose the macaroni & cheese. They don't have a "kids menu" per se, but they were quick to tell me what they had available for kids, before I even asked. Honestly, the pricing on the menu would have been fine to have my daughter dine from, but she chose to go with the mac and ate it all up. I was worried since the mac was on the menu as a "small plate" as well and it was "3 cheese" which usually means she won't eat it because of the cheeses, but she ate it all - so that was great. I don't really have anything negative to say about the restaurant. I do recommend bringing a light jacket as it was a bit chilly in the restaurant, we kept ours on and were fine. I'm looking forward to going there for brunch this weekend....I hope to be equally impressed. Wish me luck! :) I have to also mention that the other post (Lisa J) - how is it possible that you ate that many dishes in one night? and I don't remember seeing any mashed potatoes or carrots anywhere on the menu.....this might have been a different restaurant - LO'ers keep this restaurant open - it's great to finally have good choices on this side of town (I love asian but only can go so long before I need something else) and that silly restaurant that opened across the street that no kids are allowed (bar) - uggg - I need OPTIONS!! :)

I had high hopes for this place after driving by for months I finely stopped in last week when you walk in all seems in place like a small little bistro waiter dressed professional and ours was very nice. Where it falls apart is the food I had the tamales they looked and tasted like they came off a lunch truck with a puddle of watery black beans slopped on the side. My husband had the salmon on lentils that were horrible they had a refried beans texture and were gross!! the salmon was over cooked and horrible and bits of the crust were burnt and there was about as much crust as there was salmon . The wine selection is limited and seems like it was thrown together " helter skelter" no theme nor did the waiter have any knowledge of the wines although he was very nice. Desserts are limited to a chocolate fondue. Overall disappointed with this place I would give the waiter three stars he was very nice and the only thing that made this experience tolerable

Have been back a couple more times since my original review and I still really enjoy this place. The atmosphere has a lot of character and I think that is worth a lot. The decor has changed a bit and is much more pleasant. There is now a sign outside which is a nice touch, as before, I actually thought I wasn't at the right place until I came in. The patio area will be great in the summer, unfortunately it is pouring rain out right now :( I would rank the deviled eggs appetizer as one of the best in the Portland-metro area, and I eat out a lot, and have the deviled eggs everywhere that has them. Becky is great and the food is still as good as my first go-around. I will definitely be back.

Tried this place out with an Amazon Local deal. I had the chicken marsala and my husband had the 3 cheese mac. The marsala was decent but was missing the simple ingredients of salt and pepper. Once I added salt and pepper, it was a little better. My husband's 3 cheese mac was totally bland. Not much flavor at all, the pasta was overcooked and it was a pretty small portion for $14.00. There was also probably only 1-2 pieces of bacon crumbled into it...The service was decent but could have been better considering we were the only customers there on a Friday night. Sadly, we will not go back which is sad as I like to give to local small businesses.

Hey...its me again. The guy that raves about the burgers. Colored outside the box tonight and went Chicken Fettuccini. Fantastic. You should really give this place a shot. Cool people, great comfort food, good wine list and just makes for a totally chill evening. Peace.

This is the first review I've ever written on Yelp, which should tell you how passionately I feel about what I'm writing here. We'd been driving by this place for years and the enthusiastic reviews (which I now can't believe are real) convinced us to finally give it a try. I want to warn others not to give in to a similar curiosity. Last night, my family had the worst meal we've ever had at a restaurant at Olivers. I ordered the chicken marsala because someone said on here it was "to die for. "Other than there being chicken and mushrooms, this in no way resembled marsala. It was a flavorless white cream sauce with no marsala wine whatsoever. The sauteed spinach on the side was only half cooked (some pieces totally raw) and not seasoned in any way. It all went really well with my not-even-cold white wine. My husband's chicken pot pie was the ugliest presentation I've ever seen. Instead of being covered with a pie crust, someone had taken several frozen puff pastry squares and put them on top of it at odd angles. The pastry was burnt on top and raw on the inside, but the kicker was that the chicken and stuff inside was just as flavorless and gooey as my chicken (I would suspect it was the same goo). I started having terrible stomach pains while still at the restaurant, which lasted all evening. My husband had the pleasure of getting violently ill in the middle of the night. I think the worst part of this was how much we spent on this horrible-tasting and sickening meal. Each of our entrees was between $16 and $17.

We love to support local businesses, and were hoping to find our new favorite place. Unfortunately, our experience was SO bad, we will never ever go back. Since the restaurant was nearly empty, we took a seat at the bar. When we arrived there was one other couple at the bar - total customer count of 4 with us. It took 5-10 minutes for her to bring us water and menus, which I would have understood had the place been packed. A few people did arrive during our visit. We think there was some special on a salmon dish, because every single other diner that night was served salmon. However, it was not on the menu, or ever mentioned. I ordered the "panko crusted cod" fish-n-chips. When it arrived, it appeared to be a cheap grocery store breaded triangular fillet (Gordon's?) that was baked in the oven. I meant UNDER baked, as there was slimy white stuff under the "crust". I literally gagged trying to find an edible bite. It came with a serving of frozen french fries that also were oven baked. This was flat out the absolute worst meal I have ever been served in a restaurant. Ever. It was honestly just disgusting. When the server came for our plates, she looked down and said that I hadn't eaten my fries....then grabbed my plate and rushed off. I think she knew that I was going to let her know how bad it was. The prep area is in open sight, so we got to watch the cook scrape the end of the tartar sauce out of a jar into a cup for my plate, as well as fill a cup with ketchup from a huge squeeze bottle. Not appetizing to watch. My husband ordered the meatloaf. He was underwhelmed with the meatloaf itself, but he did get a serving of real mashed potatoes and some wilted spinach with garlic, which wasn't bad. He also got a cup of the ketchup as a condiment. As we ate this horrible meal, the server did bring out a lovely serving of salmon for the couple next to us. It seemed she knew them well and theirs was on the house. Though I cannot confirm that, just what it appeared to us. I will admit my glass of wine was good, as it should have been for $10 a glass. Overall, the restaurant is in need of some TLC. A deep cleaning, some paint, that kind of stuff. Not sure what is up with the side patio, as the walls seem to be propped up on the outside with 2x4s. The kitchen prep area (that we got to stare into our entire meal) was cluttered, though not necessarily dirty. So I will give them that. It was very disappointing, because we really wanted to love it. Ironically, the Food Network was on the bar TV with episodes of Diner's, Drive-Ins and Dives. Every dish looked like a meal for royalty compared to Oliver's. Service - 0 stars Cleanliness - 2 stars Meatloaf - 2 stars Fish n Chips - negative stars Ambiance - 1 star Avoid this place.

I agree with 11 other people who thought the food here was amazing. We sat outside which was extremely comfortable. I couldn't believe that three of us had dinner, all had salads as a starter, an entree and alcohol for $60. Nice wine selection by the way! I had the small beet salad with Gorgonzola and then split the grilled cheese sandwich with someone because I heard it was amazing oh and it was. My tip is that if you get there before happy hour ends at 6 p.m. try the bruschetta . Someone near me had it and it looked giant and yummy.

Before buying an Amazon Local coupon, I've learned to check YELP reviews. A quick look Oliver's reviews on Yelp revealed many 5-Star ratings. Perhaps I should have looked at the reviews more closely. Most of the high-scoring reviews are brief, and the reviewers have made few entries -- and most interestingly, are from out-of-towners! The low-scoring reviews are more detailed, and the reviewers have posted numerous reviews. On their website home page, the owner writes: "Our goal is a little different than other places ..." Our experience was that Oliver's is VERY different from many restaurants we've explored over the years, in many ways. Our visit took place late on a hot, steamy Saturday afternoon/evening. We felt comfortable arriving at 5:00 p.m., because their website said they opened an hour earlier. Upon arrival, we found their small dining room not ready for customer, stepping over "Open" banners and such on the floor. We weren't welcomed, our arrival seemed to be tolerated. We thought about dining on their patio, but the sun was so low, we would have been baked alive with no shade. Inside the building was no better; the restaurant was sweltering. On a positive note, it didn't smell bad inside. They did have their screen mesh covering their back door, next to their kitchen, tied open, perhaps to induce air movement through the former "hamburger hut" chalet building; not good for vector control. Sweetie ordered their "House made Meatloaf" with mashed potato, and sautéed spinach. On their website's dinner menu, this meal was listed as $12.00. However, it was actually $16 at the restaurant. Having seen a delicious looking "Oliver's Pot Pie" - as seen on the menu, with carrots, parsnips, potatoes, corn and peas covered in a flaky crust, I ordered this item. On the web: $13.00. In real life: $16. I asked to use the restroom, and was told it's "out back" and was handed a key chained to a large metal tool. Good thing I didn't need to close the door - I went there to wash my hands - the light did NOT work in this "out back restroom". For customer's convenience, was a flashlight propped up on the sink. I'm glad I wasn't visiting at night! The House made Meatloaf was okay, Sweetie said, and tasted very much like what she makes at home. She'd hoped for some kind of gravy or topping for the crumbled pile of meatloaf (it looked as if had been scooped out with a spoon and dumped on the plate) that she said was a little dry. Bits of skin in the mashed potato made them seem freshly prepared. The spinach had a little garlic sautéed with it, but didn't look that appetizing. Oliver's Pot Pie was disappointing. Instead of looking like what was on the website, it was a large soup dish, with four squares of puff pastry baked on the top. The pastry was golden brown on the top, but sadly, raw and uncooked on the underside. It had no flavor. The pot pie was more like a chicken vegetable soup; with a very thin, watery chicken stock, and small diced overcooked vegetables and shreds of tough, skin-on chicken. It was almost flavorless. I asked for salt at the counter, and after four doses of salt, it still had almost no flavor. Eventually, I just gave up, after eating about half of it. We paid the bill, and tipped the teenage waiter well; it wasn't his fault. On the way out, we heard the owner ask the waiter if he tasted the rejected Chicken Soup, and he replied "it tasted okay to me". The owner snorted that we customers obviously didn't know good food. We may not be culinary connoisseurs, but we know what we like. These were not $16 dinners; not even close. Using discount coupons has let us to try many eateries we'd otherwise never experience; and has made is regular customers at full price. We won't be back to Oliver's, regardless of the price.

WOW! This was probably the best overall experience I've had at a restaurant, ever. There was not just one thing in particular, but a collection of people and events that made this solo dinner special. I found this restaurant on yelp and looked at the menu online. It showed a simple food fare that was elevated and reasonably prices with a nice bar and small wine selection. I decided to go for it and I'm more than happy I did. I arrived and immediately could tell the restaurant was filled with locals who were regulars, but I did not feel out of place one bit. I sat down at a table for one and chatted with my server who later I found out was the owner, Becky. I made small talk with the table next to me for a few minutes and returned to my studying. They mainly talked with me because they heard me order the chicken marsala and they two had ordered the dish which was the daughters favorite. Again, local regulars...good sign! I had a nice glass of malbec which the owner recommended and it was fabulous and reasonably priced at $8. Oh, and you can bring your own bottle of wine, too! Once the marsala came out I was very impressed with the colors and perfect doneness to my spinach. I do not like over cooked vegetables of any kind and thought the chef got the spinach more that perfect. The chicken was cooked perfectly with a VERY flavorful gravy and yummy mashed potatoes. The gravy wasn't as dark as you are used to seeing but the dish was utterly fantastic! After dinner I asked if there were any desserts and Becky informed me that they don;t have a dessert menu but she does have vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce. Just like what grandma would have waiting for you at her house! I politely declined and mentioned I was in chocolate mood. About 10 minutes later Becky brings me a plate of chocolate she had her chef go get me from the store across the street. Where have you EVER gotten costumer service like that...NO WHERE I BET! I was blown away and moved to the bar where I would chat with Becky and several other patrons who were obviously regulars. I felt as though I as at a friends hours having a dinner party and was welcomed with open arms. Eric the chef is amazing and cooks with love making his dishes taste like home! I live in the Eugene area, but when I come back to the Portland area you can bet I will be heading back to Oliver's where I saw children, parents, couples, and even dogs enjoying their night! Thank you Becky and friends fr making me feel at home and filling my belly with delicious food and fabulous vino!

Great food - but I wish they still had the awesome bread and Salted butter they used to have:( The chicken enchilada is awesome! Food is made to order so expect to wait a bit for your food. Check out the wine list too! Menu is not huge but has some nice options!

I'm assuming the awesome reviews of this place were before a change in ownership! We drove all the way up here only to be disappointed by what appears to be a dump! The exterior and surrounding patios are an eyesore. We did not even bother to go inside because the outside was so poorly maintained!
